A new documentary

Taken from correspondences going back to 2002, Speaking of Baghdad features an international cast performing the stories of Iraqi writers in Baghdad. We get a chance to hear the words of Iraq's own writers telling of life in Baghdad during the war.

About the film

For the past seven years, I've corresponded with writers and artists in Baghdad about life during the war, and I've made this 28 minute documentary featuring their stories as performed by an international cast from the shows Entourage, Prison Break, Angel, 24, The Cosby Show, Dexter, and Ugly Betty.   The film also features a score from an Emmy winning composer (Michael Whalen) and a mix and sound design from Roy Waldspurger and Michael Kirchberger (Chocolat, Sleepless in Seattle, Adaptation, & Lost in Translation) at George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch.

The outsanding cast includes Jamila Alina, Elisa K. Blandford, Sanjay Chandani (Leverage, Judging Amy), Naz Deravian, David Diaan (America So Beautiful), Jay Harik (American Dreamz), Geoffrey Hillback, C.S. Lee (Dexter, Chuck), Rex Lee (Entourage), Aamer Mahmood, Silas Weir Mitchell (Prison Break, My Name is Earl, Rat Race), Navid Negahban (Charlie Wilson’s War The Closer), Geoffrey Owens (The Cosby Show, Without a Trace, Medium), Keith Szarabajka (Perfect World, We Were Solders, Angel, The Dark Knight), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), and Alexis Wesley.

Viewings & screenings

The film will air on the international television station Link TV and stream on the website.  Speaking of Baghdad will also play at the Napa-Sonoma Film Festival and be screened at the US Air Force Academy's Conference of War, Literature, & the Arts Conference this September.
